Boca do Lobo friends today I urge you to contemplate the vastness and freedom of the Mediterranean sea by visiting with me the new Philippe Starck’s project. This verse of the French poet Charles Baudelaire seems to define the address of the new venture. Mama Shelter was created by Trigano family (co-founders of Club Med) and by the French philosopher Cyril Aouizerate. It was designed by the renowned Philippe Starck who wanted to offer an ecletic and electric ambiance. After Paris, the owners of Mama Shelter have recently opened their second concept right in the city centre of sunny Marseille, near Cours Julien, a district with its urban art vibe and its mix of concert halls, young fashion designers and sunny terraces. This new modern place really offers a confortable environment to enjoy the French joie de vivre.
27 rooms between 15 to 45 m2, spread over six floors with the option of five categories and colours and with prices starting at €69. Rooms similar to those at Mama Paris, but drawing on a new energy through the colours of the Mediterranean. Cool in the summer, they are also warm during rare cold snaps. So much more than a place to sleep, Mama Shelter is the heart of life, a place where people gather around a shared meal, a live band, unpredictable encounters!
The hotel encompasses the intellect and rich culture of the surrounding city by incorporating urban art and by not being afraid to mix various patterns, textures and colors. The swanky appearance of the hotel evokes a social and fun atmosphere proving that style and class certainly does not mean boring. Humor, intellect and rigour emerge from the L’Hotel Mama Shelter Marseille as it represents a positive twist to French hospitality.
I particularly love the ground floor that is taken by the sense of community on its sofas and armchairs that design living areas. The communal tables invite you to a Mediterranean meal.
